About the campaign
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that continues to affect thousands of people in Romania.
An information campaign is essential: it helps people recognize the warning signs early, understand the risks, and act quickly for their own health and to protect those around them.
That is why all the information you will find here is a tool for raising awareness, a way to combat myths and encourage open discussion about a disease that continues to affect thousands of people. The better we understand what tuberculosis is, how it manifests, and why it should not be ignored, the more prepared we are to act in time and view this reality with more responsibility, not fear.
Medical staff, local public health authorities, and healthcare facilities can download the campaign materials for dissemination from the section below.
The work entitled “Tuberculosis and Pollution,” which forms the basis of the visual identity of the “Tuberculosis Can Be Cured” campaign (March 2026), was created in 2024 by Theia Catrina Mirodot, a student in the Mural Art Department of the Faculty of Decorative Arts and Design at the National University of Arts (UNArte).
The artist’s concept was selected as the winner of the competition organized by the WHO Office in Romania and the “Marius Nasta” Institute of Pneumology, in collaboration with the National University of Arts in Bucharest, on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day 2024. As part of the 2024 project, it took the form of a mural located on one of the buildings of the Marius Nasta Institute in Bucharest, created by Theia herself, together with five other UNArte student colleagues, a university assistant, and with the support of the ZIDART – Street Art Festival team. The mural was created using air-purifying paint (AirLite).
The impact that this mural has had since its inauguration reflects a natural alignment between the public health message about tuberculosis and the hopeful visual expression proposed by the artist.
